I'm 5'11". I cut pieces of chrome tube and fit them over a large u bolt, braced against the flat cross piece (bike end). I had to also place a few washers behind the cross pieces because the flat cross piece was bending as I tightened the nuts at the crash bar/u bolt. The crash bar (engine gaurd) is the Suzuki OEM part. The pegs (CCI, I think) then attached to the crash bar. This gave we about 2+ extra inches. Still feeling cramped, I cut 3" long pieces of fairly heavy gage steel and drilled holes at each end. One end went on the connecting hardware supplied with the pegs, attached to the engine gaurd. The pegs themselves attached to the other end. In total, I gained about 5 inches. It is fairly comfortable and stable, but does look homemade. Some aluminum billet cut and drilled to replace my tubes would look much better.
Bryan Felsher made a post a couple of months ago that sounded like he took highway bars and extended them from the frame by using aluminum billet between the frame and the bar. This sounds cleaner and simpler than what I rigged.
